Brigitte Bardot and her dog

Brigitte Bardot and her dog, 150 x 100 cm
In this imaginary portrait we see the young, somewhat shy, but sensual Brigitte Bardot and her dog. The palm leaves give the artwork an exotic impression. Notice the beautiful backlight and the soft shadows. She wears two necklaces around her neck. One with a surfboard, and a seashell dangling from the other. The light reflects beautifully on her hand and on her satin skin so that her figure and voluptuous curves visibly shine. She’s wearing nothing but a knitted white top and tiny bikini bottoms. Her golden retriever is wearing her leather hat. The hat depicts a marguerite with seven petals. Did you know that BB often draws such a 7-petals flower? Brigitte Bardot actually saw the series of paintings that Peter Engels made of her. She was over the moon. She wrote her sweet comments to Peter Engels and signed them. And she added her marguerite with 7 petals. That flower is her trademark, so to speak. This unique one-off painting is an imagined tribute to BB as an animal lover. Peter Engels came up with this completely new and non-existent composition. So there is no picture of it anywhere. He painted it mainly with the palette knife in his subdued monotonous sepia colours. He calls them Vintage Portraits. This unique painting found its new home in an art collection in the South of France.
